My Teaching Philosophy

I believe everyone should have the opportunity to perform music. Being a music teacher is not just a profession, it is a passion. I feel very privileged to be able to change the lives of my students through music.

 

Teaching Principles

As a private instructor for the last thirty years I have taught beginning, intermediate, advanced and flutists of all ages. My goal is to provide students with the skills and tools to make them life long learners. What does that mean? My students learn the basics of music including scales, sight-reading, music theory, music history, and musicality so that they eventually become their own teachers and can continue learning music their entire lives. In addition lessons are also based on each student's individual needs and interests.
